Halloween is fast approaching, and let me guess, you don’t have a costume yet – right? Don’t worry, it’s not panic time. I’ve brainstormed a couple of great medical costumes that are more fun than just dressing in scrubs (this isn’t work!). Medical costumes can be much scarier (or funnier) than just dressing as a doctor or nurse.
Working The Graveyard Shift…
The easiest variation on a doctor costume is just to go undead! Here, in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis, where we host the largest gathering of zombies in the world, we call it “getting zombified”!
All it takes is a white face, a little dark eye make-up and A LOT of fake blood. Tear up your clothes a little and you have the perfect outfit for a flesh-eating night on the town. Use old scrubs and a lab coats and go as a zombie doctor or try something non-medical- I’ve seen anything from a zombie police officer to zombie Big Bird!
I Feel Funny, Doc!
If you don’t want to have a night of the living dead, you could also try something a little different to personalize your medical costume.
Why not dress like a famous doctor? Just add a red clown nose and go as Patch Adams from the heart-warming Robin Williams film.
Or shave your head (maybe this one is for the guys?) and go as Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers movies.
For the ladies, dress in a colonial dress and go as Dr. Quinn from the popular TV show in the 90s!
Take A Page From Dr. Seuss!
To get a little more creative about your “doctor” costume try going with the most famous of doctors- Dr. Seuss! With a million and one great characters from Thing 1 and Thing 2 to the Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss offers a wide range of fun and recognizable costumes that everyone can enjoy!
And of course, if you try one of these costumes (or dress up at all this Halloween), remember to post a picture of it on Scrubadoo’s Facebook page to automatically receive a $5 gift card and be entered to win a variety of other prizes- including a $100 gift card to get new scrubs (you’ll need it after you cover the old ones in fake blood!).
