Onward Healthcare is thrilled to announce the launch of Travel Therapy Career Cast, a brand new podcast just for travel therapists!  Travel Therapy Career Cast follows in the footsteps of Onward Healthcare’s award winning Travel Nursing Insider podcast, and is a part of our ongoing efforts to inform and educate the rehab / therapy community of the benefits of a travel career.

In our latest episode of Travel Nursing Insider, Deb Shea, vice-president of travel nursing, and Marla Pelle (pictured), director of quality management break down the compliance and credentialing process for a travel nurse. They start by explaining the requirements set forth by the Joint Commission, as well as the role the federal government and registries play in the process. Then they describe the different nursing files that are required, which the separate into three different buckets – personnel, medical and payroll. Onward Healthcare is excited to announce that our official podcast, Travel Nursing Insider, was named as one of the Top 50 Travel Nursing Blogs by the independently run “A Hearty Blog” website. Travel Nursing Insider was launched in December of 2009 and has had over 500 downloads on iTunes to date. The first five episodes featured members of Onward’s senior recruitment staff walking an RN through the job search, application, interview and acceptance process for a travel nursing job. Future episodes will begin to focus on topics such as what to expect from the orientation process, tips for getting settled in a new city, and how to maximize your travel nursing pay.

We’d like to thank all of the travel RNs who have subscribed to Travel Nursing Insider thus far, and encourage others to down the travel nursing podcast on iTunes.  Episodes 1-5 are extremely useful for nurses looking into a travel nurse job for the first time.  Each episode runs about 12 minutes in length and can be listened to on the Onward Healthcare podcast page or on iTunes.

The discussion focuses on how the travel nursing process works, what a typical assignment entails, as well as why many nurses choose to travel, while the second part expands upon how to get started in a travel nursing career and the importance of an online application.

Future episodes will take listeners through the early stages of how to get started in a travel nurse career, and eventually evolve to tips and advice for working travel nurses. Upcoming topics will include how to maximize your travel nursing salary, what to bring on a travel nurse assignment and how to get acquainted to a new city.
