My Healthcare Travel Story

My travel assignment in Juno Beach, FL, has been great! Contracting for 6 months has allowed me to lease a beautiful apartment directly across from the beach in Jupiter, FL, nearby to my job placement. There is a large sidewalk and bike path along the Atlantic Ocean on which to bike, rollerblade, walk or jog which is great for a fitness junkie like myself.  I’m out there on a daily basis enjoying the beautiful scenery, including the Juno Beach Fishing pier just to the South. There is a Gold’s Gym right by as well, so I can also keep a regular workout schedule.  And shopping, dining and all amenities are only minutes away.

However, one of my favorite things has been the dive shop that sits directly on the intercoastal and offers regular classes and dive trips, with  boats located directly out the back door. This has allowed me to rekindle my past hobby as an advanced diver!  I have logged more dives and added more specialty certifications to my name,  including classes in Nitrox diving, wreck diving, fish ID and photography. Jupiter is known to be a great dive destination with its abundance of large marine animals on its reefs, most notably the Loggerhead turtle. I feel very fortunate to be here and am grateful to be an employee of Onward Healthcare!

My Healthcare Travel Story

It was not long ago that I was a tired, old nurse – sick of local hospitals and nursing homes, sick of being abused and unappreciated and sick of constant short staffing. One very bad day, I impulsively put my resume on the internet. Many recruiters called, but the one who stood out as sincere and caring was Onward Healthcare’s own Cassandra Lindquist.

We spoke of many available opportunities and then she said she just got an e-mail regarding an opportunity in Alaska. I was stunned-ALASKA! I’ve always wanted to see Alaska. I had to go. Cassandra walked me through the entire process and took care of almost every detail. I couldn’t believe I was on my way, away from the east coast hustle bustle, get it done yesterday attitude. It was finally my time for some serious change.

The assignment turned out to be a life altering experience. The job was quite different in a very positive way and Alaska was nothing short of majestic. Now that I had the traveling bug in me, I ventured to San Diego for my next assignment which was equally as fabulous. However, when I finish in sunny San Diego, I plan to move to Alaska, make a new home base and continue to work and travel for the best staffing company and the worlds best recruiter!

Cassandra made a brief visit to San Diego recently to attend a wedding, yet she managed to make time to meet with me, bring me a bag of goodies and turn me on to my first fish taco. The taco was fantastic but the company was even better! It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that Cassandra is just a phone call away.

That tired, old nurse no longer exists and I don’t miss her one bit. I have a new lease on life and the whole world is outside my door. I still marvel at how happy I am now, and how lucky I was stumble onto Onward and especially Cassandra!
